OEE Output Objects

The system’s OEE functionality records Production Runs and Equipment stops and also creates a fair amount of final data (like the OEE effectiveness indices ) as well as intermediate data (like the OEE Factors). In the ISA-95 Equipment Model this data is stored in folders called OEE.

Also, the OEE Equipment Monitor provides information on its state in a number of Variable objects located in the Monitor State folder underneath the OEE Equipment Monitor object.

Equipment OEE Folders and their sub-folders

These OEE folders typically are siblings of a OEE Equipment Monitor objects. In this case they are referred to as equipment OEE folders to separate them from other OEE folders on higher hierarchy levels, which will be addressed later in this document.

In the standard configuration of the OEE Equipment Monitor the equipment OEE folders host the Scheduled Reporting folder for the Overall OEE effectiveness indices and the Production Reporting for the OEE effectiveness indices for the last completed production run, as well as the Monitor Records, where the OEE Equipment Monitor’s the records on Production Runs and Equipment Stops are stored.

If the OEE Distinct Cycle or OEE Accumulated option is enabled in the Processing Options > Calculation Extensions property compound of the OEE Equipment Monitor, a folder corresponding to this option is added to the equipment’s OEE folder. For details regarding these folders, see the Accumulated folder and the Distinct folder.

These sub-folders contain the factors from which the OEE Index is calculated. These are the Availability Index, the Performance Index and the Quality Index. As different Availabilities define different Derived Indicators, the OEE Index for each Derived Indicator is stored in yet another sub-folder for each Derived Indicator together with its specific Availability Index. If an OEE Aggregator object is installed, the Aggregation folder and Weighted folder are added to the equipment OEE folder.

OEE Folders on higher hierarchy levels

If an OEE Aggregator object is installed, OEE folders are also created as a sibling of the OEE Aggregator object as well as on all levels of the ISA-95 Equipment Model hierarchy between the OEE Aggregator object and the OEE Equipment Monitor objects.
These OEE folders only contain the Aggregation folder.

OEE Equipment Monitor State Variables

While the OEE folders addressed in the previous sections act as central spots for data which is directly related to the OEE effectiveness indices and their calculation, an extensive list of variable objects providing information on the state of OEE Equipment Monitor can be found in the Monitor State folder underneath the OEE Equipment Monitor object.

These variables do not affect normal OEE functionality but can be read by scripts implementing custom functionality (like Advanced Endpoints).

In general, these variable objects have descriptive names that indicate the variable purpose but if you require more information, please get in contact with Support.

The OEE sub-folders in detail

This section provides a more detailed look at the sub-folders of the equipment OEE folders. Each of these sub-folders is addressed separately, in alphabetical order.

The Accumulated Folder

If the OEE Accumulated property is enabled in the OEE Equipment Monitor’s Processing Options > Calculation Extensions property compound, the Accumulated folder provides accumulated OEE effectiveness indices of all cycles of the current production, with a time range from the production start until <now>.

Values are updated according to the setting for Performance Options > Performance Time Basis property of the OEE Equipment Monitor.

There are no OOE and TEEP indices in the Accumulated folder as they are calculated in relation to Total Time and Total Production Time and therefore are not available for more limited time frames like a single production run.

The Aggregation Folder

If an OEE Aggregator object is installed, it aggregates the OEE effectiveness indices of all subordinate OEE Equipment Monitors. On its installation, the OEE Aggregator creates OEE folders for its parent object and on all hierarchy levels between this parent and the OEE Equipment Monitor objects.

Each of these folders contains an Aggregation folder which has folders for all the OEE Integration Scopes that are configured in the underlying OEE Equipment Monitors. These Integration Scope folders in turn host folders for the different OEE effectiveness indices, where the aggregated Quality Index as well as the OEE Index itself are stored.

Data in the Aggregation folder is updated at the end of each Aggregation Interval that is selected in the Aggregations Options > OEE Integration Scope.

The Aggregation folder is the only folder in the OEE folder on hierarchical levels above the OEE Equipment Monitor object.

The Distinct Folder

If the OEE Distinct Cycle property is enabled in the OEE Equipment Monitor’s Processing Options > Calculation Extensions property compound, the Distinct folder provides OEE effectiveness indices for the most recent production cycle.

This data is updated according to the setting for Performance Options > Performance Time Basis property of the OEE Equipment Monitor.

There are no OOE and TEEP indices in the Distinct Cycle as they are calculated in relation to Total Time and Total Production Time and therefore are not available for more limited time frames.

The Monitor Records Folder

As the name suggests, a mayor task of the OEE Equipment Monitor is monitoring the equipment for production runs and stops, as this information is essential for the calculation of the OEE effectiveness indices.

In the Equipment Stops table all equipment failure details are recorded. It also acts as an interface for the equipment administrator to manually reassign reasons for stops which occurred during production.

All information about the Production Runs that is relevant in terms of TPM/OEE analytics is recorded in the Big Table object of the same. This table can also be used for manual review and modification.

The Production Reporting Folder

The Production Reporting contains the OEE effectiveness indices for the last completed batch/production run. It is updated as soon as the batch/production run is over.

There are no OOE and TEEP indices in the Production Reporting folder as they are calculated in relation to Total Time and Total Production Time and therefore are not available for more limited time frames like a single production run.

The Scheduled Reporting Folder

This folder contains the Overall OEE effectiveness indices. These are calculated regularly, at intervals defined by Availability Type and the Overall OEE Calculation Recurrence in the Availability Options property compound of the OEE Equipment Monitor.

There is no TEEP index in the Scheduled Reporting folder as it is calculated in relation to Total Time and therefore is not available for more limited time frames.

The Scheduled Reporting is generated at the first calculation of the Overall OEE effectiveness indices.

The Weighted Folder

The objects in Weighted folder form the basis for the aggregations of OEE effectiveness indices on higher levels and are for internal use only. It only exists, if an OEE Aggregator object is installed. Then it is located inside the OEE folder for the monitored equipment.

OEE Factors

OEE is the product of Availability, Performance and Quality.
