Working with Rule Objects

Rule objects in system:inmation provide control over OPC server browsing and the discovery of I/O items. OPC servers can contain large namespaces that are time consuming to browse, discover and create in the hierarchical tree structures. With judicious use of system:inmation rules, browsing and discovery of items can be fully controlled to filter out unwanted or unneeded items. This Jump Start explains how to create, configure and successfully implement Rule objects to control the browsing of OPC servers.

Audience

This Jump Start is aimed at all users of system:inmation who work with OPC servers. It is useful to have some basic knowledge of using system:inmation, DataStudio and OPC servers but refer to the DataStudio Documentation Infrastructure HandsOn for details on getting started with the system:inmation I/O model, Connectors, and discovery and browsing of OPC servers.
