Creating and using the Report Generator

Once a Report Item has been fully configured, you can create and use a Report Generator object to automatically generate the report periodically. The Report Generator is linked to a Report Item and a Scheduler Item, enabling the exact report schedule to be configured.

Creating and Configuring the Report Generator

Before creating the Report Generator, first create a Scheduler Item under the "Report Demo" folder you created in the last section (please visit here for details on how to create and configure the Scheduler Item). Set the Schedule _Recurrence Pattern property to "Every minute".

  1. To create the Report Generator object click on the "Report Demo" folder, right-click and select Admin  New  Report  Report Generator from the context menu.

  2. In the Create Object wizard, give the object a name and click on the …​ ellipses next to Report Object.

  3. In the object picker, find the Report Item that was created in the previous section, select it and click OK.

  4. Back in the Create Object wizard, click on the …​ ellipses next to Scheduler Object.

  5. In the object picker, find the Scheduler Item that you created earlier and, select it and click OK.

  6. Select the Output Options from the wizard side menu. Here the Output Format can be selected from the drop-down menu and the Output Folder can be configured. Select the format you want and enter a valid directory path for the Output Folder.

  7. Click Create to create the Report Generator object in the I/O Model.

Check Status of Report

  1. Select the Report Generator in the I/O Model and go to the Status property compound in the Object Properties panel. Here you can see when the last report was created and when the next one will be created. Any errors will also be displayed here.

  2. To check the reports have been exported correctly, go to the configured Output Folder and open an exported report.
