How to Create, Modify and Delete a Profile

The Access Model is accessible through the tab on the bottom of the Model panel. The top item in the Access Model tree is the system owner profile (so) and to make changes in the Access Panel you must be logged on as an administrator.

Profile objects can be used to log in and access the system using the Profile Credentials authentication method (if selected).

Create a Profile

  • To create a new profile right click anywhere within the panel that is not an object to bring up the context menu.

  • Select New  Profile.

  • In the Create Profile wizard select a name for the profile and a description. Leave the Administrative Role set to "None" for this example.

Changing the Administrative Role option to "Administrator" will elevate this profile to a system wide administrator. Profiles that are set to "Administrator" ignore all security settings and have all rights in the overall system. The "Reviewer" option allows access to all the models (except the Access Model) with read-only permissions.

Model Authorization grants access to the individual models but they will not be visible for Profiles (when logging into DataStudio) until permissions have been set. Setting permissions is described in the Setting Object Level Security section.
  • The Audit Trail Roles will be left unassigned at the moment. Please visit the Audit Trail - Profile Audit Trail Roles docs for more information about Audit Trail authorization.

  • Click Next to open the Profile Credentials options. Here you can specify whether if this profile can be used to login using Profile Credentials by checking the Available option. Enter a password (according to the Password Policy) and make note of it, we will later use this to log in to DataStudio. Click Next to see the profile summary or Create to immediately create the profile in the Access Model panel.
