How to Create Visual KPI Profile Groups and Profiles in DataStudio

This section explains how to create a Visual KPI Profile Groups and Profiles using DataStudio. Visual KPI Profile Groups and Profiles are created in the Server Model below KPI Instance objects. Once created, the Profile Groups and Profiles will be available on the Visual KPI web interface.

Before beginning configuration, check that the Web API Service is installed properly and running and that the Web API Server object in the Server model is enabled. Also, Visual KPI should be already installed and configured, for instructions on how to do this please read the Installing Visual KPI Jump Start document. Also, before creating Visual KPI Profile Groups and Profiles, please follow the instructions on creating KPI Server and Instance objects.

Create KPI Profile Group and Profile objects

KPI Profile Group and KPI Profile objects correspond to the Visual KPI Profile Groups and Profiles. Any objects created here will be reflected on the Visual KPI web interface.

  1. Select the KPI Instance object created in the last section and select Admin  New  Profile Group from the context menu. In the Create Object wizard, enter a name for the Profile Group and then click Create.

  2. Right click on the newly created Profile Group object and select Admin  New  Profile from the context menu. In the Create Object wizard, enter a name for the Profile and then click Create.

  3. Go to the Visual KPI web interface and select the "Profile" icon in the top right of the interface.

  4. Click the Profile Group dropdown menu and select the Profile Group you created in DataStudio from the list.

    If the Profile Group is not visible on the list you might have to wait for the Visual KPI Remote Context Server (RC Server) to assign a KPI ID to the Profile Group. Select the Profile Group in DataStudio and in the Object Propeties panel, check if the KPI ID property has been assigned

  5. Click the Profile dropdown menu and select the Profile you created in DataStudio from the list.

  6. Click Select to choose the new profile.
